  • One of Johnson's very first targets was poverty.  He passed a poverty bill that dropped people living in poverty by 50%.  Stock rocketed up on this news.

  • He easily won re-election, which only added to his legitimacy as a president, which kept the stock on a steep upward trend.  The GNP rose by 2% and 10 million jobs were created.  Many investors wondered how it would ever go any direction other than up.

  • His civil right record was very mixed, which sent stock prices into a very erratic up and down movement during the later parts of the week.  However, he did end up passing both the Voting Rights Act and the Equal Rights Act, which brought the stock back up to its original price

  • Johnson also expanded the space program and NASA.  However, near the end of the presidency, he became very unpopular because of the Vietnam war and how long it dragged on, along with the horrific things pictured and written about
