Storyboard Text

  • Cause
  • We shall stop trading with both, the British and the French!
  • Event
  • WE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA WANT THIS LAND OF YOURS!
  • NEVER!!!
  • YAY!!!
  • Effect
  • WE WON AGAIN!!!
  • We're one awesome country!
  • Our president Thomas Jefferson & his advisors wanted to stop the "bullying" of the American ships by stopping the trading going on with the British & French. This lead to making the Embargo Act of 1807.
  • Cause
  • Thank you for the weapons!
  • During the War of 1812, the Americans also wanted more land;British-ruled Canada. Therefore, they had a battle over who gets to have Canada/the land of Canada. This was also the first battle during the War of 1812.
  • Event
  • Yay! America won again!
  • After basically 'winning the war', Americans felt a strong sense of pride;just like after winning the American Revolution. In other words, they felt really strong because this was technically the 2nd time they won against Great Britain (which at the time was the most powerful military & government in the world).
  • Effect
  • The Americans thought that the British were stealing the U.S' weapons and giving the Native Americans the stolen weapons. The Americans were thinking the reason why the British were providing them with weapons was to attack the U.S. settlers by the Ohio River.
  • Oh, you're very welcome!
  • Once again, the Americans defeated the British! America & Great Britain had a battle at sea-USS Constitution v.s. the British Navy. The cannon balls from the British would bounce back off of the sides of the American ship. Because of this, a little later, the sailors of the USS Constitution nicknamed the ship "Old Ironsides".
  • Well, it doesn't matter, because we still control the sea!
  • The Americans wanted to have an end to the war so alas, the Peace Treaty of Ghent was ratified & President James Madison declared the War of 1812 to an end.
  • The Treaty of Ghent is signed & the war is officially over!
