Storyboard Text

  • Hey Chuck, did you know that in mitosis Interphase is responsible for cell growth and DNA duplication and has three different sections for these processes to develop?
  • Yeah, and did you know that those three sections were G1 for growth/preparation of DNA synthesis, S for DNA replication, and G2 for mitosis growth/preparation, grows more, and creates proteins/organelles?
  • Of course I know, I bet you didn't even know that Prophase was the preparation phase during mitosis.
  • Oh yeah Lana? Well I do know that during that phase the chromosomes condense and become visible, the nuclear envelope breaks releasing chromosomes, and the mitotic spindle forms. How about that?
  • Well, what about the Metaphase, which is the middle phase of mitosis?
  • I definitely know that you don't know Metaphase is where chromosomes align at the phase's plate and two kinectochores attach to opposite microtubles on spindle poles!
  • Well, I know you don't know anything about Anaphase, where the cells pull apart and the chromosomes move towards opposite poles!
  • You're right, I don't know anything about Anaphase...
  • Ha, I knew it.
  • But I do know Telaphase creates two new nuclei each with a new set of chromosomes, nuclear membranes, and nucleoli!
  • But in the end, Cytokinesis divides the cytoplasm to form the two ACTUAL new cells.
  • Well of course, animal cells pinch apart and plant cells need to cell plate to divide meaning Cytokinesis changes depending on the cell.
