  • The ibis symbolized Doodle. The boy was crippled and sick and so was the ibis. The was in a place where it didn't belong . This is kind of like Doodle meaning he should not belong. .The scarlet ibis ended up dying and so did Doodle.
  • The storm symbolized the death of Doodle. The storm coming meant that something terrible was going to happen.
