Also, composting creates rich soil for gardens, which will reduce the demand for foods to be produced in mass quantities which is unsustainable.
In addition to reducing the waste we produce and composting, it is also important to reduce out greenhouse gas emissions, like the 6,870 million tons that were pumped into the atmosphere last year. We can combat this by carpooling , using efficient cars, and walking or biking more places.
Besides not knowing HOW to live a greener lifestyle, we need to investigate other reasons why people aren't managing their waste outputs. The fact is, some people believe that managing their waste output is not necessary, and that there will be no repercussions if they just keep dumping waste into landfills.
These people are often the people who also don't believe in climate change. They call it global warming instead, so it's easier to say, "Theres no such thing as global warming, this was the coldest winter I have seen!" But if they looked at the facts they would see that climate change is real, it is caused by humans, and it is destroying the planet we call home.
Some people in power try to influence the way people think so that way their businesses can stay afloat. But businesses who cannot go green are sinking ships. After taking this journey with Tim, I hope that you have learned something about waste management, and the different ways people perceive it!
