  • In 1776 the Continental Congress wrote the Declaration of Independence or the worlds most famous breakup letter. This document was the official separation between Britain and the colonists. This document had 4 parts the Pre-Amble, Declaration of Rights, List of Grievances, and the Resolution of Independence.
  • Thanks
  • In the first part it states what this document is going to be about or in other words why we are breaking up. The second part tells Britain is violating the colonists rights. The third part shows Britain all of the rights that were violated. For example the colonists believe they had no representation on taxation, for quartering large bodies of troops, and for cutting off trade from all parts of the world.

  • In the final part of the Declaration of Independence it simply says we are a separate country and we have rights.
  • Woo hoo we won the war.
  • After the signing of the Declaration of Independence Britain and the colonists went into war this war was called the Revolutionary War. This war was all about the colonists trying to overthrow the British to get a new one. On one side were the British Redcoats and the German army and on the other side was the Continental Army, the Colonial Militia, and the French army. The main battle tactic was to stand in a line and one after another they shoot at each other.
  • Although the British wanted the war to be nice and orderly the Colonial Militia didn't fight this way. They fought in Guerilla warfare this was when instead they snuck up on people. On of the most famous people in the war was the leader George Washington.
  • In the end of the war America one and got all of the land east of the Mississippi river. The colonists got independence from Britain and gave rights to all white men.
