In this scene, Santiago is praying at the Church. He then later returns to his sheep at the farm.
Santiago owns a farm of sheep. He's worked as a Shepard for most of his life. He then goes to the market to fetch some goods.
Santiago then travels with his sheep to the market, and meets the King of Salem. He talked to Santiago and helped guide him to chase his dreams.
Santiago then traveled to talk to a Gypsy. He did not trust her at first, but ended up deciding to travel to Africa anyway.
When Santiago had been stolen of all his money, and had given up his sheep, and had no way to get home, he had lost all hope, and became very upset as he stood alone, in the now desserted market.
Soon after leaving the crystal shop, Santiago continued his journey to find his treasure. He rode a camel to Egypt with a handful of companions. They pushed forward to the Pyramids of Egypt, just as the Gypsy told Santiago.
