  • Germany was told it would be strictly accountable for any american casualties by U-boats. On May 7 1915 killing 128 Americans.Then The Arabic and the Sussex were sunk by u-boats killing 2 Americans which led to the Sussex pledge.
  • In late February a note was intercepted by Britian sent by Arthur Zimmerman the German minister to Mexico. It said Mexico and Germany should become allies. That they would help them get back lost territory. This had led to a sensation of anti German felling across the nation.
  • After the sinking of the French liner sussex the United States and Germany had both come up with the pledge Sussex pledge. It would stop unrestricted submarine warfare but the United states had to end the illegal British blockade. Wilson had rejected so did not keep there pladge.
