  • WILLIAM H. CARNEY WAS BORN ON FEBRUARY 29, 1840, IN NORFOLK, VA. HE DIED ON DECEMBER 9, IN 1908. WILLIAM H. CARNEY WAS BURIED AT OAK GROVE CREMATORY, IN NEW BEDFORD, MA.
  • ONE ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT WILLIAM H. CARNEY HAD WAS THAT HE WON THE METAL OF HONOR. WILLIAM H. CARNEY WON THE MEDAL OF HONOR AFTER HE FOUGHT IN THE CIVIL WAR IN THE SECOND BATTLE A FORT WAGNER.
  • WILLIAM H. CARNEY IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE HE WON THE METAL OF HONOR AND HE ALSO PLAYED A REALLY BIG ROLE IN THE CIVIL WAR ESPECIALLY IN THE BATTLE OF FORT WAGNER. AND HE SHOWED THAT AFRICAN AMERICANS CAN FIGHT IN THE WAR THE SAME AS WHITE SOLDERS.
