In Ghana there was rumours about the British coming and taking over them, So the leader of the Ashanti told them about that horrible story.
So in that night the British came and had a talk wiht the head of the ashantes. He said that we will give you education, food and everything that he wanted. He had no choice than to accept
The leader told them to not come out until they have got 10 to 25 diamonds. and he locked them out. He even took peoples kids and made them work for 10 to 12 hours a day.
The British also did slave trade and they sold Ghana's people as "Slaves" just because of the colour of their skin. Each slave sold for 5-10 pounds based on the way they worked. They were told if they work hard they were going to go to a "Better Place" They were mostly sold to the Spanish empire.
Ghana was a powerful country when it came to trading. They had recources such as Gold DIamond Salt. They traded it for money so they can build more houses and for more tools. They mostly traded the salt to the Indian Empire and the diamond to the Spanish
