  • When the Romans arrived in Britain, there were no proper roads.
  • I'm stuck. MUMMY!!!
  • There were some roads, but they were just mud tracks.
  • Zzzzz

  • WHAT??
  • Roman roads were built properly and some are still around today!

  • But when the Romans left, the British didn't know how to mend the roads.
  • Let's use these mud tracks instead!
  • Hurray! Lots of mud again!
  • I LOVE MUD!
  • But Roman roads were well made so some are still around today.
  • The Romans didn't like the muddy tracks in Britain.
  • When the Romans left, the British didn't know how to fix the roads so they used muddy tracks again.
  • OINK!
  • So they made lots of very straight roads to march along.
  • So the British ignored the roads and used muddy tracks again.
  • Mud's the best. Remember that!
