For more than three years the farmers rebelled. Over the three years dozens of tax collectors were beaten, shot, tared, feathered, and terriorized. The year is now 1794.
Mr.Presdient the farmers are getting out of hand. They are hurting and terriorizing many of the tax collectors. We have to put a stop to this.
I have had enough of this. Adams go tell Alexander Hamilton to get 15,000 troops ready to fight against the farmers/rebels and also Im leading them.
Alexander get 15,000 troops ready to fight. We have to put a stop to the rebels and Washington will lead them.
I will have 15,000 troops ready to go in a couple days Adams. I cant believe the president is going to lead.
Troops, today we are here to stop the rebels and put an end to this nonsense.
Location: Western Pennsylvania
Where are all the rebels?
They all left once they heard that troops were coming.
So in the end the rebels and farmers all dispersed within a month after Washington sent troops out. President Washington ended up arresting more than 150 rebels suspected of criminal activity but only two commited treason. This was also the first time a president had led an army and also the first time the US sent troops out to arrest/stop other US citizens. The Whiskey Act was repealed in 1802 by President Thomas Jefferson.
