Storyboard Text

  • Labor Camp
  • Angka
  • Mango Groove 
  • When Arn and his family arrived at the labor camp, they were separated from each other and assigned to work in the sun all day. Arn sees other children weak from hunger, and exhausted. 
  •  Mek
  • Angka is the leader of the Khmer Rouge. When the slaves heard about this there was a new rule added. Every time they hear the word Angka they have to applaud as sign for respect. Angka came to one of their meetings and promised them that they would earn more food to stay alive but it didn't happen.
  • In order to survive
  • The mango groove is a place were the Khmer Rouge take people and they never come back. They get taken away and killed for not listening or following instructions.
  • Forces
  • Mek was suppose to teach Arn and other kids music at the camp but failed and loss his family. He wanted to die after having his baby boy starve to death. But his dreams kept him alive while sleeping.
  • In order for people to survive they need to play the mythical songs the soldiers demand. If they fail or decide not to do it they will be sent to the Mango Groove and die. Arn had touch to music so he ended up surviving.
  • Throughout Arn's experience he was forced to do many things at the labor camp. Because Cambodia was being liberated by Khmer Rouge, Arn was force to become a soldier, being handed a gun and armor. Now Arn is living with terrorist. Throughout this deadly journey Arn saw many kids give up on work but he would always say this as a courage, "Never Fall Down".
