The Chief Elder acknowledges that she has caused everyone in the audience stress, as she had skipped over Jonas. She apologizes for her mistake and goes on to introduce what happens next, Jonas becoming the Receiver of Memory.
Jonas sees a man that he has not seen before in the crowd, as he was following the Chief Elder's eyes when she looked into the Committee of Elders' seats.
The Chief Elder tells Jonas that he would have to be alone during training. This way, his mind wouldn't be tainted by any external force.
JONAS! JONAS! JONAS!
Jonas is told that he would have to endear lots of pain in the training. The Chief Elder describes it as pain that is unimaginable, to which Jonas feels uncomfortable.
The Chief Elder explains the final attribute he needs in order to become receiver. This attribute is the Capacity to See Beyond.
The crowd chants his name in unison. Jonas feels unsettled but reassured, as everything is going to be okay.
