This is a wonderful day in 1834. We, in Michigan, finally have enough people to become a state.
Good for you, us people in Ohio have been as state since 1803, its nice for you to join us, just remember that Toledo belongs to us!
Toledo belongs to Michigan! Until you realize that we will send our militia here. Governor Mason may be young but he's no dummy, he knows how valuable Toledo can be with its location near rivers.
Speaking of rivers, why don't you cry me a river. Our Governor is no dummy either, he has already talked to Congress and guess what...Michigan now has to wait 3 more years to become a state because you are all whining about the Toledo Strip.
So, you think it's funny to cause problems. Wait and see what we do. Not only are we going to chase away your land surveyors, but we are going to kidnap some of you Buckeyes and take you to Michigan to show you what a real state looks like.
In 1837 Michigan became a state. The Upper Peninsula, which no one wanted, proved to be very valuable to Michigan. The Upper Peninsula had iron ore, copper, and trees which helped Michigan's economy..it was not a frozen wasteland but a buried treasure.
Guess what, President Jackson just said that Ohio gets the Toledo Strip and Michigan gets the Upper Peninsula...ha ha you guys get a frozen rabbit!
