  • Narrator shines light on the old man's eye every night at midnight for one week.

  • The narrator kills the old man with the bed sheets because he made a wrong move and exposed himself.
  • The narrator cuts off the old man's head, then arms, and then the legs and hides them under the floorboards.
  • The narrator gave himself away because he had mistaken his own heartbeat for the old man's.
