  • The first step of milk production is rearing where cows spend their days eating. Farms utilize this to give the cows hormones to increase its milk production.
  • The cows are milked at milking parlors which hold equipment for milking. Cows are usually milked twice a day and it can take around 5 minutes for them to go around the milking machine.
  • Milk is then stored at about 39 degrees for no longer than 48 hours. Then it is transported to the processing factory.
  • Samples of the milk are tested to make sure it's up to standards. When the milk is approved, it is set up for pasteurization, homogenization, and separation.
  • After it's processed, the milk is ready to be bottled. The milk travels through pipes to the packaging machines which fills the milk into plastic jugs or cartons.
  • After packaging, the milk is finally ready to be sold to consumers. It is stored in a refrigerator room until it is shipped to the stores.
