Monsieur brought home a letter from the minister of education inviting him and madame Loisel to a ball. Loisel turns down the invitation because she says she does not have a nice dress.
She buys a new dress with her husbands savings and barrows a necklace from a rich friend. She has greedy taken money from her husbands savings that she did not need and can only think about being rich.
They had a great time at the ball and the misses was happy that she was seen. Rich men wanted to dance with her and even the minister was interested in her. They truly had a wonderful night.
The diamond necklace was gone. There was no way that they could pay off such a necklace. The worried family put out a reward for the person who found the necklace. No one turned it in.
They worked around the clock for ten years. They lost everything and now wear rages for clothes. After ten years the debt was payed off. They lost their home and their life.
The necklace was a fake! The past ten years of work where wasted and their reputation was gone. The diamonds where fake and so was the gold. If the small family had not lied they would still have middle class life. Never lie.
