  • (x4+2x3+3x2-6)/(x-1)
  • Students please divide this problem for homework
  • So (x4+2x3+3x2-6)/(x-1) is  x2+3x+6
  •   1
  • *   +   1  3  6
  •
  • 1  2  3  -6
  • 1   3  6   0
  •   1
  •  -1
  •    *   +  -1  -1  -2  2
  • 1  2  3   0  -6
  • 1  1  2  -2 -4
  • (x4+2x3+3x2-6)/(x-1) is x4+x3+2x2-2x-4
  • The students are in class and the teacher is assigning them there homework.
  • Students both of you guys gt the wrong answer so ill go over synthetic division over again and hopefully you'll learn.
  • This is student number one and they're solving the problem at there house. The mistake that they make is that they didn't add the zero for the missing x value.
  • *    +  1  3  6   6
  • 1    1  2  3  0  -6
  •
  • 1  3  6  6  0
  • (x4+2x3+3x2-6)/(x-1) is x3+3x2+6x+6
  • This is student number 2 and they're also solving the problem at there house. The problem that they make is that they don't switch the negative one to positive one.
  • the problem that you made is that you did not add the zeroto fit in the missing x value, even if a number is not present to fit the varible you still have to add it even if it has no value.
  • if you added the zero then you would have gotten the correct answer.
  • Now they're back in class and the teachers collecting the work from the previous day.
  • students please hand me the homework so i could make sure its correct
  • The teacher noticed that both of the students got the wrong answer so he, did the problem to get the correct answer.
  • Now hes showing student number one her mistakes and how she didn't add an zero and that's where she messed up.
  • oh okay i see my mistake
