There are multiple types of radiation. UVA radiation is what causes premature aging and wrinkly skin. UVB radiation is the cause of sunburn and tans. Because of this, there is no such thing as a healthy tan.
UV radiation is measured in the UV index scale. It measures from 1 to 11+. You should always take precautionary measures but especially when the index is at or over 5 to 6.
There are many things that you should be aware of when going outside. The level of sun vary depending on a multitude of things including altitude, latitude, time of day, time of year, weather condition, ozone level, and environment-reflection.
Before I mentioned the ozone layer. This is the shield around the earth that protects life on earth from overexposure to the radiation from the sun. It is really a thin layer of ozone which absorbs the harmful rays. This barrier is being depleted due to the excessive amounts of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.
Jimmy went on to teach kids about sun safey!
And then he taught the world!
