DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER
" It was partly the unusual geography of the room that had suggested to him the thing that he was now about to do"( 1, Chapter 1). This shows he is being rebellious by starting his journal because he is working against the government showing he is an anti-hero.
"when I saw her in the light she was quite an old women, fifty years old at least. But I went ahead and did it just the same" ( 1,69). This shows Winston is an anti-hero because it is illegal to have sex for fun, so he isn't cooperating with the government but he could be starting more freedom.
"His pen had slid voluptuously over the smooth paper, printing in large neat capital. DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER" ( Book 1, 18). This shows he is an anti-hero because once again he is rebelling against the government, he wants to let his thoughts out, so he isn't following the rules, but the common good probably thinks how he thinks.
