  • INTRODUCTION
  • CLAIM
  • REASON
  • In the short story, "The Cask Of Amontillado," by Edgar Allen Poe, there was a man named Montresor and he had a best friend name Fortunato, but Fortunato made fun of him a lot, so he decided to kill him on the day of the carnival and he new what his favorite thing is wine so he lead him to his family's catacombs, but he gave Fortunato many chances to leave but he was to drunk to understand. Montresor lead Fortunato towards the back of the catacombs and chained him to the wall and stated building a wall so no one will know he was there, when fortunatos drunkenness wore off he started to relive what was happening and tried to joke about it the finally he realized that there was no way out.
  • TEXTUAL EVIDENCE
  • Montresors revenge was not justified
  • ANALYSIS
  • By Montresor killing Fortunato he didn't get anything out of it he lost one of his friends and he could have just said something to fotunato about him to stop making fun of him, and fortunato might not of known what he said was getting to montresor.
  • CONCLUSION
  • "Ha! ha! ha! Hee! hee! hee! What a very good joke indeed. An excellent jest, Montresor. we'll laugh about this later. Ho! ho! ho! Oh, yes. we will enjoy this story for years to come . We can tell it to our wives over some wine."
  • This shows that he thought it kinda was a joke and he didnt really understand why this was happening and what he really did wrong .
  • Montresors revenge was extreme and uncalled for and there was no reason to go to such extreme measures.
