Storyboard Text

  • Okay, class! We are going on a field trip to learn about the causes of the Civil War!
  • Woohoo!
  • Yay!
  • Yay!
  • This is going to be so fun!!
  • I'm so excited!
  • We're here! We are going to learn about the Compromise of 1850 and the Fugitive Slave Act.
  • The Compromise of 1850 allowed California to enter as a free state, which was unfair to the South.
  • Some judges captured any African American, slave or not, and sent them to the South for the extra money.
  • The Fugitive Slave Act required all citizens, even the Northerners, to help capture fugitive slaves.
  • Cool!
  • If anybody let fugitives escape, they were fined and jailed here.
  • Awesome!
  • The Compromise of 1850 was not fair to the South...
  • Can you tell me why these were causes of the Civil War?
  • And the Fugitive Slave Act made the North do something they didn't want to and they were against it.
