  • could you please repeat your name sweetie?
  • I thought your name was Sarah Williams, I probably wasn’t listening well
  •  my name is Mary williams.
  • so how old are you?
  • I’m 13 years old.
  • Huck finn and the women talk about what is happening in town. She mentions things about Huck and Jim. Talks about how they both seem to have disappeared from the town. Meanwhile, Huck is dressed up as a girl to disguise his real identity.
  • You don't like dressing up or wearing makeup, what kinda girl are you?
  • I bet you starting to like wearing makeup and getting all dressed up?
  • I don't really like makeup or dressing up.
  • After asking Huck to repeat his name name, Huck answers with a different name. This leads to the women being doubtful of Huck’s identity.
  • you should take more care of those hands, if a boy were to see them he would run away.
  • They look alright to me, i mean they could use some cleaning but other than that they’re fine.
  • She then proceeds to ask him more questions, so that she can come to a conclusion. She begins by asking him his age.
  • The women notices huck’s form of sitting. Huck is unconsciously sitting with his leg wide apart like a boy and not like a girl. The women asks him to pass her a rag, and she notices his dry hands with long fingernails.
  • Huck looks at his hands not able to understand her comment. He responds in a way that makes him seem less feminine.
  • She gathers all the information together and reaches a conclusion. Huck is not a girl simply because a girl, who does not share the same interest as other girls, must not be an actual girl.
