Storyboard Text

  • I am Demeter, Goddess of the earth. I make the plants and crops grow if I'm happy. If not, the earth is cold and barren.
  • Demeter is the Goddess of the earth. She has a beautiful daughter called Persephone.
  • I am Persephone, Demeter's daughter. not only am I beautiful but I'm kind as well.
  • Meanwhile in the underworld Hades, the God of the Dead, was feeling depressed and grumpy as usual. He was a bit lonely by himself in the Underworld and wanted a companion.
  • I am Hades, God of the Underworld. I am a king and a ruler but I am missing something. I need a companion.
  • One day, Persephone was busy picking juicy, red apples for her mother in an empty field. Meanwhile, down in the Underworld, Hades was gazing at his crystal ball when he spotted Persephone. He instantly fell in love and starting plotting a plan to capture her and take her to the Underworld.
  • Oh, Mother will love these apples!
  • Oh, I think I'm in love! Now, I just need to find a way to get her!
  • So, the next day, Persephone went out to go walking on a field. Suddenly, the ground trembled and it split open revealing a mysterious person on a black chariot. He swooped down, picked up Persephone and with one last tremble, the ground closed up again.
  • What are you doing?
  • Come with me and don't ask any questions!
  • When Demeter found out that Persephone was gone, she was full of grief and the earth became cold and barren. Down in the Underworld Persephone was depressed, she was missing her mother. Hades was telling her that she could become a Queen if she married him. As the days passed by, she fell in love with him and became his queen.
  • PERSEPHONE! WHERE ARE YOU?
  • After a few months, Demeter had become crazy because she was missing her daughter so much. She went to Zeus and told him about the problem so he ordered Hades to return Persephone back to her mother. The very next day, Hades sent Persephone to the surface to say his good byes while Zeus was closely watching. But, Hades had one more trick up his sleeves.
  • I'm going to miss you. When can I see you again?
  • You will see me soon enough if you eat these four pomegranate seeds. I'll see you in eight months time.
  • That is how the seasons came to be. Persephone stays with her mother for eight months of the year when is nice and sunny because Demeter is happy. Persephone spends four months with her husband in the Underworld because if you eat food in the Underworld, you will have to stay there. Eating four pomegranate seeds will enable you to stay in the Underworld for four months. But when Persephone is not with Demeter the world is cold and barren.
