Storyboard Text

  • On a Plantation in Southhampton County, Virginia....
  • It's hotter than usual today bud. It really is hot out here today bud.
  • Yea Nat I agree. It looks like an eclipse of the sun to me.
  • It's darker than usual today Henry.
  • Well I had another vision from God today; basically he said that the Serpent was loosened and that I should fight against it because it's our time.
  • Henry you are absolutely right! This is one the signs that God mentioned to me in my vision.
  • Me, you, Hark, Nelson, and Sam must start planning because God says 'It's our time'.
  • Months later there was an atmospheric distrubance which was the final sign. A week later, Turner and 6 of his men met in the woods to discuss their plan.
  • The men decided to start their rebellion at 2:00 that morning, killing the whole Thomas family while they slept.
  • From there the men continued their rebellion, going house to house killing all the whites they encountered. Eventually, their force grew to 40 slaves.
  • By the end of his rebellion, the rebels had stabbed, shot, and clubbed at least 55 white people. On Novemeber 11, 1831, Nat Turner was skinned and hung. This will forever be one of the most famous slave rebellions and his legacy will always live on.
