In 1963 Norman Rockwell painted a famous picture of Ruby called–“The Problem We All Live With. The painting was about civil rights and racial equality.
In 1984 Ruby married Malcolm Hall. She was happy and strong.
When Ruby was older she returned to her elementary school and volunteered. She loved to read to the children. Ruby even wrote her own book in 1999 called Through My Eyes.
In 2001, she was awarded the Presidential Citizen's Award by President Bill Clinton for her courage and commitment to equal educational rights.
Because Ruby was brave- all of the friends can live, and play, and work together.
Ruby and I can be friends.
