Storyboard Text

  • Second grade was as bad as the first, only worse... the only good thing about second grade was this year I could walk home with Jem.
  • The other night...when I was getting my pants, they were sitting there expecting me. It was like someone was reading my mind!
  • Don't worry. Nobody can tell what you're going to do unless they live in the house with you.
  • Don't take it Jem. This is somebody's hidin' place.
  • We were walking past out tree. In its knot-hole rested a ball of gray twine.
  • Okay, it must be some little kid's place-hides his things from the bigger folks.
  • The next day...the twine was where we left it. From then on, we considered everything we found in the knot-hole our property.
  • You reckon we oughta write a letter to whoever's leaving us these things?
  • I've gotta good mind to tell Atticus-no , I reckon not.
  • Here, let's write a letter.
  • Don't you cry, now, Scout... don't cry now, don't you worry-
  • The next day..someone had filled our knot-hole with cement.
  • Is the tree on the corner of the Radley lot dyin'?
  • No! The tree is as healthy as you are, Jem.
