English settlers arrived and built a fort on a place called James island. Powhatan indians and English settlers lived in Jamestown. IN 1607 three English ships carrying more than 100 passengers landed near Jamestown
During the winters in Jamestown lots of colonist die. colonist die during starving time and colonist also die from disease.colonist could not eat during winter because the crops were dying Francis West and thirty-men sailed up the Chesapeake bay to trade corn.
colonist could not survive with out water so they dug shallow wells to supply themselves disease in the early years position at the salt-fresh water transition where filth went into the river tended rather than flushed away that's how disease stated in Jamestown
