Storyboard Text

  • Oedipus is born
  • Finding out the prophecy
  • The Sphinx
  • Oedipus is born, but an oracle tells Laius and Jocasta that he will grow up to murder his father and marry his mother.
  • Origins
  • Oedipus is left on top of a mountain until a messenger finds and delivers him to Polybus, where he raises him as a son of his, until one day an oracle tells him of his fate, he leaves home.
  • Seeing nothing but nasty
  • Oedipus encounters the Sphinx, a viscous monster ruling Thebes and guarding its entrance, and only a riddle can lead to the city's freedom. Oedipus solves the riddle and is crowned king, the Sphinx kills itself out of anger.
  • Oedipus's exile
  • Years go by, Oedipus is king of Thebes and has kids with Jocasta, when a plague occurs and people are searching for Laius's killer, a messenger tells Oedipus of his origins, that he is the son of Laius and Jocasta, finding out he fulfilled his cursed prophecy.
  • Oedipus runs to the temple, but encounters Jocasta's dead body as she hanged herself. Oedipus, tired of seeing nothing but evil, gouges his eyes out so cannot see anymore.
  • Oedipus tells Creon to exile him off of Thebes and for him to take care of his children for him as he will be gone.
