I went over to the bench and Phoebe got on the carrousel. And all of a sudden, I felt so damn happy, I damn near started bawling. When the carrousel started, all the kids tried to grab the gold ring. I was scared Phoebe'd fall off, but the thing with kids is, if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do it and not say anything, even if they fall off. (Salinger 211-213)
