  • Villefort is a semi older gentleman and wears formal clothing. He acts nice, and is caring toward his family. His internal thoughts is that he wants to be wealthy. He betrayed Edmond's trust by lying to him about being released as soon as possible. He is married to mademoislle villefort and father to valentine villefort. He is a traitor, and a loving husband and father. Personality traits:acts nice,caring towards his family

  • Fernand was 20 and is now 38. He is persistant,cunning,and a traitor. His internal thoughts are that he wants Edmond gone and Mercedes as his wife. He framed Edmond with Danglers and married Mercedes/Edmonds fiance. He is the cousin then husband of mercedes and a father. He is perceived as a coward,family, and a traitor.

  • A major theme to this book is revenge.This is a major theme because through out the entirety of the book Edmond is having his revenge in small steps until the very end where his revenge goes into full swing

  • Another Major theme to this book is deception. This is a major theme because Danglers,Fernand, and Villefort all deceive Edmond by making him think that they where either his friend or that they were going to help him. Edmond also deceives them by going around them disguised as the Count of Monte Cristo.
