  • June 30,1906 in 1906, congress passes the Pure Food and Drug Act, which prohibited harmful and mislabeled food and drugs. This law protected citizens from the consumption of numerous harmful and contaminated products
  • Voting Rights Act Of 1965
  • August 26, 1920 in 1920, Congress ratified the 19th amendment to the united states constitution. This amendment guaranteed women the right to vote. This amendment was the culmination of almost a century of womens suffragists' work.
  • Brooke Breaks Color Line
  • July 2, 1964 The Civil Right Act outlaws discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and national origin, from all public places. It also ended the segregation of schools, and made employment discrimination illegal.
  • Equal Rights Amendment Passes in Congress
  • 1965 signed into law in 1965, the voting right acts of 1965 prohibits the denial or restriction of the rights to vote, and forbids discriminatory voting practices nationwide
