This storyboard does not have a description.
Should students in college be able to use hate speech?
Hate speech - any speech, gesture, conduct, writing, or display which is forbidden because it may incite violence or prejudicial action against or protected by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a protected individual or group.
Doe v. University of Michigan
Doe (1989) - hate speech is too vague
We are sympathetic, but the University needs to ensure equal learning/ education is equal for each individual student, such efforts must not be at the free expense of free speech
We have not been doing very well with these cases concerning hate speech
We have determined that the University could not seriously argue because of the fact that the policy was never made for the purpose of protected conduct
