Tobit's early life was him living in Northern Israel. He chose this to be his home as it was the one city where God's temple and the eternal home was.
He regularly went to religious festivals in Jerusalem, as the law of Moses said to. He was very faithful to his religion. He gave a tenth of his possession to Levites, another tenth to more levites and a third to widows, orphans and foreigners.
When grown up, he married Anna and they had a son Tobias. He was taken captive and deported to Nineveh in Assyria and had to live with his family and the other Jews.
Tobit made regular trips to Media, and once left some bags of money with Gabael, Gabrias' brother. The bag had 600 pounds of silver. The roads became dangerous once Sennacherib was emperor, so it was no longer an option.
Tobit took good care of the people in Nineveh, feeding them, sharing food and providing. Whenever he saw a dead body, he would bury it properly and pray.
After the emperor found out he was burying the dead bodies, the emperor was not happy and assassinated Tobias, and escaped to the mountains of Ararat. Ahikar rescued Tobit by allowing him to go back to Nineveh in safety and was free from the emperor.
