Storyboard Text

  • One day, King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table were hanging out when a mysterious Green Knight entered their castle. He proposed a challenge that no one would take.
  • Who is this weird green guy?
  • Listen up, I hear you guys are the best of the best. If this is true, one of you will accept my courageous challenge.
  • He said that if anyone could take his gisarme and chop off his head, he could do the same to them a year and a day later. No one accepted the challenge until the brave Sir Gawain stepped up and did.
  • I will do it, I'm the weakest link here and I am loyal to my King. I won't be missed if I get hurt.
  • Finally! One of you actually has the courage to prove you are the best of the knights!
  • Sir Gawain took the axe and chopped off the Green Knights head, however, the Knight, with a decapitated head, got up and rode off on his horse, expecting to see Gawain again in a year, as promised.
  • That was easy?
  • I will see you in a month in a day at the Green Chapel. See you there.
  • A year later, Sir Gawain went on his journey to fulfill the challenge and take on the Green Knight again. He met the Lord of the Green Chapel and his wife, who gave him a Green girdle that would protect him, but Sir Gawain shouldn't of kept this.
  • I'm supposed to give every gift I get to the Lord, but maybe I should keep this one to protect me from the Green Knight.
  • Take this girdle, it will protect you from all harm.
  • When Gawain and the Green Knight finally met, the Green Knight went to chop off his head, but Gawain flinched. When he tried again, he barely grazed Gawain's face, which confused the Knight.
  • I survived! I have beat the Green Knight!
  • Hmmmm...
  • The Green Knight discovered the girdle, and revealed that he was the Lord of the Green Chapel after all, and that Gawain had cheated by using the girdle. This made Gawain feel unworthy, but the Knight still honored him for sticking to his word.
  • King Arthur is going to be so upset! I am no cheater!
  • You were supposed to give back the girdle, but you didn't. You have cheated, however you still stuck to your word, and used your head to protect yourself.
