When the colonists first came as immigrants they had much opportunity. They came for many different reasons such as having a voice in their government, escaping political turmoil, and other things.
These colonists built lives for themselves and eventually a country.
When the new immigrants came they were treated horribly and were totally unwelcome by people called nativist.
Ellis Island was a station where immigrants got admitted into the country. At this station immigrants would have to go through many test which were physical and informational.
On the West Coast in San Francisco Bay..........
Angel Island was opened 1910 and accepted immigrants coming in from the West Coast. The process was the same as in Ellis ISland
