The Mali empire was located in most of West Africa and was mostly "landlocked" meaning it was surrounded by other areas of land. Since it was in the Sahara desert, there were only a few fertile areas near rivers.
The Hierarchy included rulers, nobles, judges and administrators, artisans and farmers, and slaves.These were also some of the occupations someone could have. The government was led by an emperor called the Mansa, The empire was then divided into provinces each led by a governor called a Ferba .
The Empire was a wealthy one due to it's raw resources especially salt , copper, and kola nuts. Gold was used sometimes for major transactions but the preferred currency was cloth, salt, and copper.
Mali has beautiful, contemporary music is Africa.The traditional music was based of the songs of the jails.There are 32 languages listed for Mali but the offical language is French. A large portion uses Bambara as there native tounge.Some popular dishes in Mali inculde grilled chicken, chilli sauces, vegetables, and cooked meats in a souce of oil and tomato.
The religion of Islam was important in Mali and many of the government administrators were Muslim scribes. Some of the ancient papers found in Mali were even Arabic sometimes!
