  • I stress About the central issue of the spread of Slavery!
  • 1854 Nebraska-Kansas Act
  • We should just make a desire to make all states free or slave.
  • 1858 Lincoln-Douglas Debate
  • The Nation could not remain half slave and half free!
  • Yes it could because this would lead to a republican desire to make every state as a free state.
  • 1861 Civil War
  • Lincoln challanged douglas into a debate which is called the Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
  • How? If congress could not ban slavery from a federal territory, congress allows the citizens of the territory to ban it.
  • You guys believe in popular sovereignty and the Dred scott decision.
  • Lincoln stress about the issue of slavery being everywhere, he wants to make every state free.

  • It doesn't matter what the supreme court says about slavery. It should be the people who votes. Congress please's for the reason that slavery cannot exist a day or an hour.
  • Douglas just wants to leave it alone so it wouldn't be a problem with the south and north.
  • DOUGLAS WINS
  • Lincoln wants the slavery issue to be handle by the supreme court while Douglas wants the people to vote.
  • Douglas tells lincoln that the supreme court shouldnt get involved in this.
  • The Free port Doctrine is the notion that police would enforce the voter's decision in the Dred's Scott case. This helped Douglas win the senate seat.
