In "The Giver", Jonas lives in a Utopian society, where he will turn 12 soon.
The conflict is when Jonas watches his dad, and learns what release is.
The rising action is when Jonas is chosen to be the next receiver. He starts learning memories and finding out his society isn't so perfect after all.
The climax is when Jonas's father tells him that Gabriel will be released, and Jonas decides he must leave.
The falling action is when Jonas has just left, and he needs to keep them safe by using memories of snow.
There is no real resolution to "The Giver", it ends just outside of Elsewhere, after Jonas's escape.
