  • Mathilde was born into a family that was quite poor. She suffered because she believed that she was born for luxeries.
  • Falling Action
  • Mathildes husband brings home an invitation to a ball but matilde is upset because she has nothing to wear.
  • Resolution
  • Mathilde's husband gives her money so she could go buy a new dress for the ball.
  • Matilde goes to Madame Forestier and borrows a necklace from her to wear to the ball.
  • Mathilde and her husband come home and Mathilde finds out that she lost her friends expensive necklace.
  • Matilde's husband goes back and looks everywhere for the necklace but he cannot find it.
  • Instead of telling the truth about the necklace, Matilde and her husband Buy the necklace from a jewler and return the necklace as if nothing had ever happened to it.
  • Mathilde and her husband work hard for 10 years. Mathilde takes a walk on an avenue when she see's Madame Forestier, Matilde tells her how she lost the necklace and they bought her an expensive one, Madame Forestier tells her that the necklace was a fake and that it was only worth a fraction of what the one mathilde paid for.
