Storyboard Text

  • I continued to devote myself to my studies. My father took care of business and the community. My Grandfather came to celebrate Rosh Hashanah
  • Elie is very content with his life as a young teenager living in Sighet.
  • Elie arrived at Buchenwald and is immediately stripped of his true identity in order to survive.
  • But I'm fifteen
  • I'm fifteen
  • Hey kid, how old are you?
  • No, you're eighteen
  • Listen to me fool!
  • The night was gone. The morning star was shining in the sky. I too had become a completely different person
  • After being sent to Buchenwald and separated from his family, Elie realizes that he will never get his old life back.
  • Hunger and weakness is beginning to overcome Elie. Food is the only priority in his life.
  • I was a body. Perhaps less than that even: a starved stomach. The stomach alone was aware of the passage of time
  • When they withdrew, next to me were two corpses, side by side, the father and the son. I was fifteen years old
  • Elie has reached the point of no return. After seeing families torn apart, killed and starved, he truly has changed for the worse.
  • After losing everything and everyone he had ever cared about Elie is left a broken and demoralized young man. He is the polar opposite compared to how the book began.
  • From the depths of the mirror, a corpse gazed back at me. The look in his eyes, as they stared into mine, has never left me
