  • I'm going to bed Rainsford.
  • Rainsford said, "'What island is it?'...'The old charts call it 'Ship-Trap Island','replied Whitney" (Connell 60).
  • The Most Dangerous Game
  • Good night, Whitney.
  • The trouble for Rainsford began when Connell says, "The cry was pinched off short as the blood-warm waters of the Caribbean Sea closed over his head" (Connell 63).
  • Richard Connell wrote, " His whole idea at first was to put distance between himself and General Zaroff..." (Connell 75)
  • There was a lot of suspense when Connell says, "Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated. Then he leaped far out into the sea" (Connell 80)
  • Connell states, "General Zaroff had an exceedingly good dinner in his great paneled dining hall that evening" (Connell 80).
  • Connell concludes by saying, "'I see,' he [Zaroff] said. 'Splendid! One of us is to furnish repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford" (Connell 80)
