Hi my name is Mario Orellana, I was born in Chicaman Guatemala. My life growing up was hard my parents had an abusive relationship.
When I was six I worked hard carrying bricks, mixing rocks with concrete, selling gum at the capital, and sometimes selling my moms pupusas. Two months later my mother left, I had to move in with my aunt.
In 2005 my mother sent money for me to come to the states with her, I crossed the border into mexico and we rode on buses really nice ones they had soft seats with tvs in front of each one.
We went from bus to bus, hotel to hotel, van to van, getting closer and closer. We had made it to the end of our trip by bus, we started walking in the desert under the burning sun.
At night it got really cold, we were constantly hiding from helicopters patroling. After we walked for two days we found a van waiting for us, to take us to the U.S. we got to a small house somewhere in the south.
We sat at that house for two days waiting for them to know where we were going making phone calls to our families. When we left the took me to Jamaica, Queens where my mother greeted me,and thats how I came to america.
