Storyboard Text

  • Here is the question tonight folks, Should the United States ever support the limitations of constitutional rights in the name of National Security?
  • We should not ever support the limitations of constitutional rights just for security. The Constitution was written for a reason, the reason being to give the citizens of our country rights, rights that can’t just be taken away
  • Trump says hold it!
  • We have terrorists trying to destroy this country!! If we don’t act now, we will never survive.
  • We should not bully innocent people. Remember the Japanese internment camps? Japanese people were put in those camps because of the Pearl Harbor Bombing. 120,000 innocent Japanese people had to leave everything. They had to go to camps just because of superstition and stereotypes among American Citizens. What if the rest of the Muslims were innocent?
  • You may be right, but there are better ways to get rid of the terrorists than banishing a whole race of people from this country.
  • We should not hurt another race of people like in the Indian Removal Act. Andrew Jackson made Native Americans leave their land to make sure they wouldn’t attack settlers. A quarter of the Cherokee died as a result of that march. Would you want the Muslims to die at the hands of their country like the Cherokee did?
  • No, but...
  • Preventing discrimination is another reason. The Civil Rights Movement is another reason to back this argument. People were segregated between whites and “colored” people. Although this has nothing to do with national security, it could happen again because of it. Muslims could be discriminated against like the colored people were just because they were feared as a threat.
  • To a point. We cannot let National Security destroy a race of people, but it must be enforced to protect us. The Japanese Internment, Indian Removal Act, and Civil Rights Movement, as I explained earlier, are reasons National Security must be enforced, not abused!
  • Our country is in danger. ISIS is a threat that is trying to destroy this country! We must promote National Security!
