three people were hung and ravens ate their eyes. people were afraid to go to Upton Wood. The ravens ate the bodies. The first was crazy; he second asked God to help him; the third was a young boy. The boy was guilty of association and it has been too long since hung. No one liked to go there except one girl. She sees their ghost. She died. Now she dances with the boy. She was the daughter of the sheriff that hung them.
"eyes like blue ice" - Simile "picked well clean six dead eyes" - imagery "like six black bowls" - simile
The attitude of the story is dark, gloomy, unnatural, and ironic.
"The third was a lad" - poem is focusing more on the boys' death. "The maid came there who felt no fright" - indicate that the girl was the only one not afraid. 'And never walked back" indicates a shift from life to death.
Upton Wood is a place where people died and hung. Death can happen at any given time.
