After Gatsby spent the whole night waiting for Daisy to call him back, Nick came the next morning after Gatsby told him Daisy hit Myrtle. Nick told him he should go away for while, but he refused to leave without daisy. Gatsby truthfully reveals his past to Nick.
"You need to get away before they trace back the car to you Gatsby"
"Daisy is the first woman I've loved. I'm not leaving without her."
Jordan Baker calls Nick because she was upset about the way he treated her the day before, so she asked if she can visit him in town instead of going to Southampton. The call abruptly ended, so he tried calling Gatsby but no one answered.
"I want to see you too, but I can't go today."
The yellow car isn't mine, it's Gatsby's car. I'm certain Gatsby was the one who hit Myrtle and drove off.
Tom tells George Wilson that the yellow car that hit Myrtle was Gatsby's and George also suspected that Myrtle was cheating on him with Gatsby
"He murdered her... I won't let him get away with this "
‘God knows what you’ve been doing, everything you’ve been doing. You may fool me, but you can’t fool God!’”
George arrives at Gatsby's mansion and shoots Gatsby then himself.
At Gatsby's funeral, the only ones present were the paparazzi and Nick. This shows us that even after throwing those glamorous parties, Gatsby still didn't have any true friends besides Nick. the vibrant city of New York would soon be a dark and gloomy place for Nick after the death of Gatsby
