There was a king, named Minos who ruled Crete. He was very strong and powerful. King Minor had a daughter called Ariadne. People were scared of him and followed everyone of his orders because they didn't want to have a war against him. If the had a war against him they knew they would die.
King Minor owned a castle. In that castle he had made a maze, which was the home of a half man half bull creature who loved eating human flesh. This creature was called Minotaur. The king shut people in the maze. The people would be lost and then finally meet the creature who would eat them.
So Minor asked the king of Athens every year for seven young woman and seven young men to feed the Minotaur. One day the son of the king of Athens, Theseus asked him, "Why do we give king Minor fourteen young people, and never see them again?" "That is because he feeds them to his monster, the Minotaur." his father replied. "Next time you have to send seven young men and seven young woman, I will go as one of the men and make an end to this." Theseus said bravely. Theseus's father tried to persuade his son not to go, but Theseus kept to his thought.
Before Theseus left the castle on his sailing boat, his father told him," If you are alive and you have killed the monster than put the white sails on instead of the black ones." Then Theseus left with the thirteen others. When they arrived in Crete they were token by Minos and Minos asked, "Who is going first into the labyrinth." No one replied and then Theseus said, "Me, I am not scared of the creature!" Behind Minos was his daughter, and the first time she saw Theseus she fell in love with him. "Okay then, we will see." Minos replied.
Before entering the labyrinth Minos's daughter discreetly gave a long ball of string to Theseus and said, "Even if you kill the monster you will not find your way out." Theseus took the string and headed into the labyrinth. As he walked down the labyrinth with his hands out, he finally felt something hard. It felt like horns. Theseus knew it was the Minotaur. He took out his sword, but it was too late, the Minotaur had already thrown him with his horns onto the ground. Theseus tried to get up, however couldn't because the hooves of the monster was on him. The Minotaur was going to grab him with his arms, until suddenly Theseus got his force back. He took the horns of the monster and flung him from side to side. Finally the animal fell to the ground. He had killed the Minotaur.
Theseus felt brave for a moment, however not for long. He couldn't find the string. He crawled on the ground everywhere trying to find the string, finally he felt something. He picked it upend felt that it was ongoing. Theseus felt relieved and began to follow the string. When he arrived at the entrance of the cave, he saw Ariadne. She begged for him to bring her to Athens with her, he felt bad for her and brought her in the boat with him. They were sailing on when she said, " I am so happy you brought me with you. Know I can live in Athens and marry you." Theseus didn't find Ariadne attractive, so he didn't want to marry her. He decided to stop tat an island to get food and asked Ariadne to go. While she was gone he fled from the island and left her stranded. For leaving Ariadne stranded on the island , the gods decided to punish Theseus and make him forget to change the sails to white. When he arrived near Athens his father was watching for him. When he saw the black sails, he thought his son was dead and so he jumped into the water and drowned.
