Storyboard Text

  • This is Homer Plessy, he's 7/8 White and 1/8 African American. He worked with a group known as Committee of Citizens (Comité des Citoyens) to test the fair treatment of the Louisiana Separate Car Act on June 7th, 1892.
  • On his way to challenge the separate car law he purchased a train ticket planning to purposely sit in the train car reserved for Whites only.
  • On the way to the Kingdom of Equality!
  • The Kingdom of Equality is the place everyone wants to go to because who wants to be surrounded by hate when it could be replaced with peace and love.
  • After refusing to get out of the seat Plessy got arrested and charged with violating the law.
  • You don't belong on this car, you must leave immediately!
  • Plessy acted against his accusations and took it to the District Court. Judge Ferguson argued that Plessy was wasting his time and he should've been following the rules.
  •  The railroad segregation is going against my 13th and 14th amendment rights.
  • The court claimed that there was no violation to his rights but Plessy was not going to give up that easily. Next stop will be the Supreme Court, another shot at heading to the Kingdom of Equality.
  • This won't stop me from getting to the Kingdom of Equality, they can't stop ME!
