  • In the morning Andrea did not feel well. She had fever, irritability, vomiting, headache, and skin rashes.
  • Tell me your symptoms sweetie!
  • Mom I don't feel well! Come here please!
  • Andrea and her mother went to visit the Doctor.
  • Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges, the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
  • At Andrea's school students are discussing about Meningitis.
  • I heard that If you have close contact with a person who has viral meningitis, you may become infected with the virus that made that person sick.
  • Most cases are caused by bacteria or viruses, but some can be due to certain medicines or illnesses.
  • She will have antibiotics because it is treated with them.
  • There is a 10 percent death rate from bacterial meningitis but if diagnosed and treated early enough, most people recover.
  • They tell me that she have Bacterial meningitis.
  • The bad new is that there may be permanent damage. Seizures, mental impairment and paralysis may be lifelong.
  • Viral Meningitis? 
  • Viral meningitis is the most common type of meningitis. It is often less severe than bacterial meningitis, and most people get better on their own (without treatment).

  •  It's very important for anyone with symptoms of meningitis to see a healthcare provider right away because some types of meningitis can be very serious, and only a doctor can determine if you have the disease, the type of meningitis, and the best treatment, which can sometimes be lifesaving.
